Monica Rao is a financial consultant at Wisdom Circle Collective, bringing dedicated financial expertise along with a rare blend of technical precision, strategic insight, and cultural sensitivity to every engagement. Originally from India and now based in BC, Monica draws on both global and lived experience in her work, supporting Indigenous nations in building resilient financial systems grounded in accountability, transparency, and community-defined priorities.

With over eight years of experience in finance and accounting, Monica helps leadership teams strengthen financial governance, implement values-aligned policies, and build capacity to lead their financial future with the tools and processes for long-term sustainability. Her core expertise spans budgeting, multi-year planning, financial reporting, internal controls, and policy development. She has partnered with 70+ Indigenous nations to conduct comprehensive reviews, implement Financial Administration Laws and policies, and strengthen strategic alignment across governance and operations.

Her background in accounting operations is hands-on and detail-oriented, from resolving historical discrepancies and streamlining accounts to ensuring audit readiness and financial accuracy. She is also adept at navigating provincial and federal funding frameworks, enhancing fiscal transparency at every stage.

Monica holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and a postgraduate specialization in International Finance and is currently pursuing her CPA designation. Outside of work, she enjoys strength training, reading non-fiction, and hiking BC’s quieter trails. Deeply values-driven, she is rooted in integrity, respect, and equity. She believes the best financial systems are not just technically sound —they are practical, empowering, and built to serve future generations.
